Not much change today. Kyle is holding steady. They upped his milk intake. After dismal urine output for weeks, he peed on one of his nurses today as if to make a statement about his determination.

Shiloh got to hold him for almost an hour. First time in 68 days. A picture is worth a thousand words.

  8. We often ask, "Why is this happening to us?" Sometimes it isn't happening to us but for someone else. It is hard for me to believe that lives have not been changed as a result of prayers heard, praises voiced, and the lives lived out by you and your family during this time. Of course we are praying for you, as well as those around you, that they may see the Jesus in you. When God has done his work there and Kyle is home, may I please come to see him and hold his little hand and hug his mommy and daddy?

  10. We continue to pray for you guys. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and photos. I'm reminded of the old hymn that says "His eye is on the sparrow, and I know he watches me." How important baby Kyle is to God, if he even knows the whereabouts of each little sparrow.

    Blessings!

  13. We know, as you know, that there are no words to express either the heartache or the joy that this babe brings to you each day. Our hearts are with you through both, as are our prayers. I know you are climbing right up into the Father's lap, resting your head against His shoulder, and letting Him give you the comfort and grace and courage and stamina that can only come from Him. We all care, but He cares the most. We praise Him for the resolve of faith, when hope wanes. Our hope is in Him and in heaven and that IS our hope. There is always victory in Jesus, so we know that we will meet and know Kyle without a doubt, no matter what. Praising God for all that He is accomplishing through this little one, both in your lives and in many others.

  14. I'm quite sure Kyle needed to feel his Mommy holding him close as much as Shiloh needed to feel that beautiful baby filling up her arms. Blessings to all of you, and continued prayers for Kyle's healing.

  17. Dear Steve & Shiloh,

WOW!!! How exciting to see Shiloh holding Kyle! When I first realized a picture was appearing on my slow, dial-up internet computer screen I could hardly wait. When I saw what the picture was, I was beyond THRILLED! I had been extra anxious to check your blog because I felt there was going to be some better news—I certainly wasN’T disappointed!!!

Please bear with me on this… As farmers/ranchers, my husband and I were truly “down” when we didn’t get any rain yesterday. The weathermen on Saturday night had made it sound quite promising, but then by late yesterday afternoon they had pretty much squelched any possibilities. When a fantastic downpour began this morning about 3:45, I started thinking about how the forecasters, even with all of their training and high dollar equipment, have no control whatsoever over the weather. They do the best they can letting us know what to expect and sometimes even get it right. At other times they miss the mark all together. Likewise, doctors, with all of their many years of schooling and practice, and their high tech equipment, do the best they can for their patients. However, God is the only one with the final “say so.” He is ALWAYS in absolute control, not the, doctors, nurses, weathermen or anyone else, no matter how good they might be at their professions. When it’s His will, He will provide complete healing (even if tests and opinions say that’s not a possibility) and He will send the badly needed rain (even if the forecasted chances are at 0%), and He’ll do it in the very best time and way—not a minute too soon or too late, and not how anyone else, even with the noblest of intentions, thinks it should be or wants it to be done. So, although I fell asleep last night feeling “yucky” because your last posted comment didn’t tell us that there had been tremendous improvement for Kyle, and also because it was still bone-dry outside, I was awakened with the loud sounds of pouring rain and crashing thunder, and most importantly, ANOTHER reminder that God has indeed been hearing our every prayer, knowing our every need, and providing what is best when He knows the timing is right! WHAT AN AMAZING, AWESOME GOD WE SERVE!

I feel like I’ve probably taken up too much space with my entries, but I just have to add right quick… I agree TOTALLY with Clint that all of us must “Never, Never, Never give up hope,” and I agree TOTALLY with one of Sunday night’s “Anonymous” that your parents and siblings have been truly WONDERFUL for you every step of this long, hard journey. (How thankful I am that one of those family members is the pastor of our church!) And Margaret, I want to say to you that YES is the answer to your question in your Friday comment. Beyond a shadow of a doubt, yours, Dwin’s, and the rest of your family’s faith in our Omnipotent Father IS definitely showing through.

You and your family are indeed an inspiration and a blessing!

  18. Shiloh,

Cortnie and I want you to know that we think of you every single day. If I live to be a 100 I will never understand why these things happen, yet I have to believe there is a reason and God knows better than us whats in store for the future. The picture of you getting to hold Kyle is not one I will soon forget. How precious those moments are with our children - those of us with healthy children sometimes forget to appreciate them. We are hear if you need to talk. Luv, Cort and Shari

  19. Thank you Father God that baby Kyle has received the most healing physical therapy ever devised: Being cradled in his mother's loving arms and receiving her tender hugs and kisses! In return Shiloh's heart surely got a tender massage of love, too. Thank you Father for this blessed time of joy in the midst of so much agony that Steve, Shiloh and Kyle have been enduring. Once again my prayer in Jesus name is that you will hold Kyle in safety of your hands again this night and that his family will be able to a peaceful sleep. Amen

Praise God from whom all blessings flow!

Yeah! Rarely do we expect to cheer when a baby pees on us! This time it was a special occasion and a time to rejoice. Go Kyle Go!!!!!!

  24. for I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. Jeremiah 29:11-13

Lord, I pray that you continue to give this family a peace that passes all understanding. Shower them with your love. Hold out your healing hand to this beautiful child. Father we thank you for all that you do for us who are not worthy of any or your mercy and love. Amen
